As part of their call to serve God and His Church, church leaders encounter difficult situations, challenging decisions, and difficult people. Even though they may be equipped and prepared to lead in the Church, they need help to deal with and respond to the challenges. But how do we help them? How do we provide encouragement and guidance? How do we ensure that our church leaders are supported in their work and empowered to continue to lead faithfully?
The most practical and powerful way to support our church leaders is to pray for them. Prayer is a powerful weapon, and even though we may not always see the immediate effects, God hears and answers our prayers. As believers, we can pray to lift the Church’s leaders, so they may be strengthened and equipped to continue in their calling. Be inspired by the following prayers for church leaders:

Prayer for Church Leader Strength and Wisdom:
Heavenly Father, to you, I lift our church leaders. Give them strength and courage to carry out their calling, and may they be filled with your wisdom that surpasses all understanding. Grant them discernment and the ability to follow your laws, that they may lead in righteousness. Strengthen their faith and help them to stand firm in times of hardship and trial.
Whenever they are uncertain, please help them to seek you first and to rely on your guidance. Whenever they make a mistake, allow them to forgive themselves and learn from their experience. No matter their circumstances, help them remain faithful and resolute in knowing that you are always with them. Your son Jesus Christ is our example and the source of our faith; may our church leaders continue to draw strength from Him.

Open their hearts to serve others, and help them be kind and generous when dealing with difficult people. May their words comfort those in sorrow and encourage those in need.
